jobportal.bayern: how a regional job board emerged that really thinks Bavaria
jobportal.bayern connects employers and applicants in the Bavarian Alpine region. How the platform emerged from HELITS HRIS and what sets it apart from generic job boards.
Bavaria has a recruiting problem that gets too little airtime: most job boards think in big cities. Stepstone, Indeed, Monster — they all show Munich, Nuremberg, Augsburg as hotspots. A trade business in Berchtesgaden, a care home in Reit im Winkl, a production operation in Freilassing — they disappear in the search results behind dozens of big-city hits that almost no one from the region would actually pick.
jobportal.bayern is our answer to exactly this problem. A job board that thinks Bavaria — not as a state filter on a generic platform, but as a standalone regional infrastructure.
How jobportal.bayern came about
The portal is not a separate project — it is a module that grew out of the development of HELITS HRIS. When we built the recruiting module for HRIS, it quickly became clear: multiposting to external job boards is good, but what is missing is a job board that is designed from the start for regional employers.
The decision to run jobportal.bayern as a standalone brand was deliberate. Employers who post there benefit from a platform that addresses applicants exclusively from the region — no mass enquiries from candidates who would never seriously relocate.
What the platform can do today
jobportal.bayern currently has more than 420 companies and over 1,200 active positions — with a clear geographical focus on Bavaria, from the Berchtesgadener Land to Upper Bavaria. Not nationwide. Not DACH. Bavaria.
For applicants: filter options by region, remote-first positions, four-day week, and industry. The application is completed in under two minutes — no long questionnaire, no mandatory registration. Anyone who lives in the region and is looking for a job should not have to navigate unnecessary hurdles.
For employers: direct posting via the HRIS interface if the company uses HELITS HRIS — or manually via the employer portal. Job listings run for 30 days, with the option to extend. All applications flow in a structured way into the configured channels — email or directly into the HRIS applicant pool.
What "regional" really means
"Regional job board" sounds like a restriction. In practice it is the opposite. An electrician in Traunstein looking for an employer near home has to dig through the noise of offers from across Germany on Indeed — and finds the local firm that is desperately hiring somewhere on page three.
On jobportal.bayern, that firm is prominently visible. The matching is geographically meaningful: a candidate from the Chiemgau sees positions they could realistically take. That sounds simple. In practice it is a measurable quality difference in incoming applications — less volume, more relevant candidates.
A care home in the Rosenheim area that posts on our platform reported back after three months: 23 applications via jobportal.bayern, 19 of them from a 30-kilometre radius. On a generic job board, of 40 applications in the same period, nine were regional.
The connection to the Alpine labour market
"Your job in the Alps" — this positioning line on jobportal.bayern is no accident. The Bavarian Alpine region has a profile that differs from other regions: high quality of life, but skilled-worker shortage in trade professions, care, and specialised technical fields. At the same time, there are people here who explicitly want to live in this region and not commute to Munich.
This intersection — candidates who deliberately want to remain regional, and employers who hire locally — is the audience that jobportal.bayern connects.
Where the platform is heading
Two expansion stages are planned in the coming months: first, an extended applicant profile with optional visibility for employers — active talent search rather than purely posting jobs. Second, a deeper integration with the apprenticeship portals of the Munich and Upper Bavaria Chamber of Crafts for apprenticeship places in the region.
For employers who want to post on jobportal.bayern, the entry point is directly via jobportal.bayern. Companies that use HELITS HRIS or want to introduce it benefit from the direct interface — more on this on the HELITS HRIS product page.
