Loxone security integration connects motion detectors, window contacts and cameras into an intelligent protection concept – with learning presence simulation, immediate push alerting and strobe light/audio reaction. Loxone is not a VdS IDS, but can be coupled via relay contact with certified alarm systems (Telenot, Bosch, Honeywell). All security data remains local – no US cloud service like Ring or Nest. HELITS handles security projects in Bavaria, Austria and Switzerland.

Presence simulation from real usage patterns

Loxone records when lights are switched on, when roller shutters move and when music plays. In holiday mode, Loxone simulates these patterns in varied form again: lights go on and off at natural times, shading moves morning and evening, brief sounds from the multiroom audio system create lively presence. Significantly more convincing to outside observers than a simple timer switch.

Sensor network: motion, windows, glass break

Loxone supports motion detectors (Tree/Air, passive infrared), window contacts (Tree/Air, magnetic contacts), glass break sensors (KNX), vibration sensors and cameras with ONVIF motion detection. On alarm: simultaneous push notification, email, activation of strobe lights and multiroom audio siren. Alarm log stored locally on the Miniserver.

VdS system coupling for insurance compliance

For insurances that require VdS-certified intrusion detection systems, we recommend coupling: the dedicated IDS control unit (Telenot, Bosch) reports via potential-free relay output to Loxone. Loxone reacts with flood lighting, roller shutters down, audio alarm and notifications – maximum security plus smart home convenience. Conversely Loxone can arm and disarm the IDS via app.

No cloud risk like Ring or Nest

Ring (Amazon), Arlo and Google Nest transmit all camera streams and motion reports via US cloud servers – with the well-known data privacy implications. Loxone evaluates everything locally: sensor signals, camera-ONVIF motion detection, alarm logs. Push alerts go directly to the Miniserver – no third party has access to your security data.

Is Loxone a VdS-certified intrusion detection system?

No. Loxone is not a VdS-certified intrusion detection system (IDS) and does not replace one. For insurance requirements that mandate a VdS-certified system, a dedicated IDS (e.g. Telenot, Bosch, Honeywell) is required. However, Loxone can be coupled via a potential-free relay contact with such an IDS control unit: the IDS reports, Loxone reacts with light flash, audio siren and push notification – for maximum convenience with full insurance compliance.

How does the presence simulation work with Loxone?

In holiday mode, Loxone simulates exactly these patterns – lights go on and off at residential times, roller shutters move up in the morning and down in the evening, music plays briefly. Which sensors does Loxone support for intrusion detection?

Loxone supports motion detectors (Tree, Air, KNX), window contacts (Tree, Air, 1-Wire), glass break sensors (KNX), magnetic contacts for doors and gates, and cameras with ONVIF motion detection. All sensors are evaluated centrally in the Miniserver. On alarm: immediate push notification to all registered smartphones, optionally email and activation of external sirens or strobe lights.

Can Loxone be combined with an existing alarm system (Telenot, Bosch)?

Yes. Integration is via potential-free relay contacts: the IDS control unit releases a switching output on alarm, which Loxone uses as a trigger for convenience functions – flood lighting, roller shutters down, multiroom audio alarm tone, push notification. Conversely, Loxone can trigger arming/disarming of the IDS control unit via a relay output (e.g. when leaving the house via app).

Is security data stored by Loxone in the cloud?

No. All motion log data, alarm logs and sensor histories are stored exclusively locally on the Miniserver. No automatic upload to external cloud services. Push notifications are sent directly to your smartphone – without routing through an external platform that would have access to your security data.

Does the Loxone security system also work in a power outage?

The Loxone Miniserver requires power. In a power outage we recommend an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) for Miniserver and router – bridging time depending on battery 30 minutes to several hours. Wireless Air sensors (window contacts, motion detectors) run battery-powered independently. For high security requirements, a dedicated VdS IDS with its own battery backup specification is recommended.

How does Loxone security differ from Ring, Arlo or Nest?

Ring, Arlo and Google Nest are cloud-dependent systems: all camera streams and motion reports run via US-American servers. Loxone works completely locally – sensor evaluation, recording triggers and push alerts run on the Miniserver in your building. This protects your security data from third-party access and makes the system internet-independent.
