Climate & Heating
with Loxone.

Room-by-room control per GEG §71 — for new builds and renovations. Wireless Air actuators, heat pump integration and up to 40% heating cost savings. Cloud-free, low-maintenance, durable.

Loxone heating automation delivers precise room-by-room control per GEG §71 — with wireless Air actuators for existing buildings (no cable, battery ~5 years) and Tree actuators for new builds. Heat pumps are integrated via SG-Ready or Modbus. Typical savings potential is 15–40% of heating costs. HELITS plans, installs and maintains your heating automation from Anger (Berchtesgadener Land) for all of Bavaria and DACH.

Room-by-room control
technically explained.

GEG §71: room-by-room control as legal requirement

The Building Energy Act §71 requires room-by-room temperature control for almost all new builds and many renovations — individual control rather than a shared central thermostat. Loxone meets this requirement per DIN EN 15232 through individual actuators per room, setpoint profiles and documented configuration. As a certified specialist partner we prepare the verification documentation for your building permits.

Air actuators: retrofit without cables

Loxone Air actuators are screwed directly onto existing M30×1.5 thermostatic valves (standard radiator connection) — no electrician needed, no wall chases. Via Loxone Air radio (868 MHz, bidirectional, AES128 encrypted) they communicate with the Air Extension. Battery operation approx. 5 years, heating circuit actuators via 24V bus for underfloor heating manifolds. A residential unit can typically be fully retrofitted in 4–6 hours.

Temperature measurement with 1-Wire and Room Comfort sensors

Accurate measurement is the basis of precise control: Loxone supports 1-Wire temperature sensors (DS18B20, cost-effective, wired) and Room Comfort sensors (Tree/Air, measuring temperature + humidity + CO₂ optional). CO₂ measurement enables demand-based ventilation control — combining heating + ventilation + shading from one system, without a separate ventilation controller.

Integrating heat pumps and hybrid heating

Loxone controls heat pumps via SG-Ready (Viessmann, Vaillant, Stiebel, Daikin, Nibe) or directly via Modbus-TCP. For hybrid systems (heat pump + pellet boiler or gas backup) Loxone coordinates the heat sources based on outdoor temperature, PV availability and cost efficiency. Buffer tank temperatures are measured via 1-Wire and incorporated into the control logic.

Loxone heating expert
from the Berchtesgadener Land.

HELITS is based in Anger (Berchtesgadener Land) and manages Loxone heating projects in Bad Reichenhall, Berchtesgaden, Freilassing, Traunstein, Rosenheim and Salzburg on-site. In the rest of Bavaria and the DACH region we deliver projects in hybrid form: remote configuration and coordinated local installation partner.

The Alpine region presents special requirements: frost protection scenarios, heating seasons extending into May and short summers with cool nights require finely tuned heating profiles. Our configurations are adapted to these climate conditions and include automatic weather data integration.

BEG funding (Federal Funding for Efficient Buildings) is complex — we support with application documentation for heating optimisation and provide the technical evidence for BAFA and KfW.

Frequently asked questions

Answers about Loxone heating automation.

What is GEG §71 room-by-room control and why is Loxone suitable for it?

expand_more
The Building Energy Act §71 requires room-by-room temperature control for new builds and many renovation cases — individual control rather than a central thermostat. Loxone meets this requirement through precise actuators per radiator or underfloor heating circuit, individual setpoints per room and automatic absence detection. The configuration is documentable and meets the technical requirements per DIN EN 15232.

How do Loxone Air actuators work for retrofitting?

expand_more
Loxone Air actuators replace existing thermostatic heads on radiators — without cables, without wall openings. They communicate via Loxone Air radio with the Air Extension on the Miniserver. Battery life is approx. 5 years. For underfloor heating, Air-compatible actuators are clipped onto the heating circuit manifold. Retrofitting is typically completed in one day per residential unit.

Which heat pumps can Loxone control directly?

expand_more
Loxone controls heat pumps via two routes: SG-Ready (2-bit signal, universal for Viessmann, Vaillant, Stiebel, Daikin, Nibe etc.) or directly via Modbus-TCP (device-specific, allows setpoint control). Via SG-Ready, Loxone can shift heating demand to peak PV generation periods. Via Modbus, flow temperature and operating mode can be precisely controlled.

How much energy can I save with Loxone room-by-room control?

expand_more
Studies (including Fraunhofer ISE) show savings potential of 15–40% compared to conventional central thermostats — depending on user behaviour, building insulation and existing control situation. The greatest effect comes from: presence-based setback during absence, window contact integration (no heating with open window) and night setback. Loxone logs consumption data locally for verification purposes.

Can Loxone also control air conditioning (split units)?

expand_more
Yes. Air conditioners with IR remote can be integrated via the Loxone infrared transmitter. Devices with Modbus-RTU or KNX interface (e.g. Mitsubishi Electric MELCloud, Daikin BRC) are connected directly. Loxone then coordinates heating and cooling operation room-by-room with the rest of the building automation.

Is Loxone heating control also suitable for underfloor heating?

expand_more
Yes. Underfloor heating responds slowly to setpoint changes — Loxone accounts for this through predictive control: heating starts early before planned occupancy and cools down in a controlled manner. A separate actuator is used for each heating circuit. 1-Wire temperature sensors measure room temperature and flow separately.

How long does retrofitting Loxone heating control take?

expand_more
A typical retrofit with Air actuators in a single-family home (8–12 rooms) takes 1–2 working days: day 1 installation and cabling of Miniserver + Air Extensions, day 2 configuration, testing and handover. Wired Tree solutions for new builds or full renovations take longer in proportion to cable routing.

What subsidies are available for Loxone heating control in Bavaria?

expand_more
Loxone heating control is eligible for BEG funding (Federal Funding for Efficient Buildings) as an individual measure for heating optimisation — up to 15% of costs via BAFA. If heating control is installed as part of a larger renovation, it increases the eligible efficiency level and thus the subsidy rate.
