Energy Management
with Loxone.

PV system, heat pump and EV charging fully automatically coordinated – for maximum self-consumption, minimal costs and complete data control. Cloud-free, local, reliable.

Loxone Energy Management coordinates PV inverters, smart meters, heat pumps (SG-Ready / Modbus) and wallboxes in real time – fully automatically based on solar energy availability. Typical systems achieve 15–30% higher self-consumption rate compared to uncontrolled systems. As a Loxone partner from Bad Reichenhall we support PV energy systems in Bavaria, Austria and Switzerland – without cloud dependency and without subscription costs.

How
Loxone Energy Management works.

Real-time measurement via Modbus-TCP

The Loxone Miniserver reads the current PV power from the inverter (SMA, Fronius, Kostal, Huawei) to the second via Modbus-TCP or HTTP-API. A smart meter – such as Shelly 3EM or B-Control EM300 – simultaneously records household consumption. Loxone continuously calculates the available surplus and derives control commands before valuable solar power is fed into the grid.

Consumer prioritization based on surplus

In Loxone Config you define the consumer hierarchy: hot water heating typically has the highest priority (high heat storage capacity), followed by heat pump, wallbox, air conditioning and pool heating. As soon as sufficient PV surplus is available, Loxone switches consumers on in this order – and reduces automatically when PV power decreases.

Heat pump via SG-Ready and Modbus

Modern heat pumps (Viessmann Vitocal, Vaillant aroTherm, Stiebel Eltron WPL, Daikin Altherma) understand the SG-Ready signal: Loxone controls two relay outputs and signals the heat pump to switch to increased operating mode when there is PV surplus. Alternatively – with a direct Modbus interface – Loxone can set setpoints and operating modes directly.

Wallbox charging with stepless power control

Wallboxes with Modbus-TCP, HTTP-API or OCPP 1.6 (go-eCharger, KEBA P30, Easee, Mennekes) are fully controlled by Loxone. The charging current is adjusted continuously between the minimum value (6 A / 1.4 kW) and maximum PV surplus. In case of need (long absence or bad weather), a grid power charging mode with configurable target charge level can also start automatically.

03

Prioritize consumers

Hierarchy in Loxone Config: hot water → heat pump → wallbox → air conditioning.

04

Configure wallbox

Integrate go-eCharger / KEBA / Easee via API. Stepless charging current based on surplus.

05

Dashboard and optimization

Energy monitoring, time window strategies and fine-tuning after the first weeks of operation.

Integration with existing systems

Loxone is not an island system – it connects existing components into an intelligent overall system.

HELITS: Your Loxone energy expert
in Bavaria and DACH.

From our location in Anger (Berchtesgaden district) we support Loxone energy projects throughout Bavaria – with a particular focus on the Bad Reichenhall, Berchtesgaden, Traunstein, Salzburg and Munich regions. For customers in Austria and Switzerland we offer remote configuration and coordinated on-site service.

The Berchtesgaden alpine climate presents special requirements: strong solar radiation in summer, but also pronounced dark periods in winter. Our configurations are tailored to these load profiles – with emergency power scenarios, winter heating priorities and seasonal switching strategies.

As an ISO/IEC 27001 certified company and Microsoft Solutions Partner, we seamlessly integrate Loxone energy management with enterprise IT: LYRION ERP, HELITS HRIS and Microsoft 365 can be integrated into our Loxone projects.

Frequently asked questions

Everything about Loxone energy management at a glance.

Which inverters does Loxone support for PV surplus control?

expand_more
Loxone communicates via Modbus-TCP or HTTP-API with the most common inverters: SMA (SunSpec Modbus), Fronius (JSON-API), Kostal (Modbus), Huawei (SDongle Modbus) and others. In addition, Loxone supports generic smart meter protocols (SML, DLMS) for independent meter reading. Configuration is done once by our technicians in Loxone Config.

How does the SG-Ready signal for heat pumps work with Loxone?

expand_more
SG-Ready is a 2-bit interface understood by almost all modern heat pumps (Viessmann, Vaillant, Stiebel Eltron, Daikin, etc.). Loxone controls two relay outputs accordingly: when there is PV surplus, Loxone sends the signal for 'operation at increased power' – the heat pump heats domestic water and buffer storage in advance. Alternatively, Modbus-TCP can be used directly to the heat pump.

Which wallboxes can be integrated with Loxone for PV surplus charging?

expand_more
Compatible wallboxes include go-eCharger (HTTP-API), KEBA P30 (UDP/Modbus), Easee (REST-API), Mennekes (OCPP) and other OCPP-1.6-capable wallboxes. Loxone continuously adjusts the charging current between the minimum charging current (6 A, 1.4 kW) and the available PV surplus – without manual intervention and without a separate app.

Can Loxone also integrate battery storage into the energy management?

expand_more
Yes. Battery storage (BYD, SENEC, E3/DC, Fronius Symo GEN24) is integrated into the Loxone energy balance. Loxone can optimize charging and discharging strategies by time window, forecast and grid tariff. In the emergency power scenario, Loxone detects the grid failure and coordinates the load shedding sequence.

Does Loxone energy management also work without a PV system?

expand_more
Yes. Without PV, Loxone optimizes consumption according to grid tariffs: cheap times (off-peak electricity, dynamic tariff) are used for energy-intensive devices. Peak load management prevents costly power peaks – relevant for commercial customers with load profile measurement. Pure consumption visualization without control intervention is also possible.

Does Loxone store my energy data in the cloud?

expand_more
No. All energy data (production, consumption, self-consumption rate, load profile) is stored exclusively locally on the Miniserver. No automatic transmission to external servers takes place. Remote access to the energy dashboard is encrypted directly to your Miniserver.

What does the Loxone energy management extension cost for an existing system?

expand_more
If a Loxone Miniserver is already in place, extending it with energy management typically costs 800–2,500 € (material costs for smart meter + wallbox integration + configuration). For new installations including Miniserver and complete energy control, projects start at approx. 3,500 €. We prepare a transparent fixed-price offer after a free assessment.

Are there subsidies for Loxone energy management in Bavaria?

expand_more
Energy management components are not directly subsidized. However, PV systems (KfW 442, Bavarian solar program), wallboxes (KfW 442) and heat pumps (BEG WG/NWG up to 70% subsidy) are eligible. Loxone demonstrably increases the efficiency of these investments through higher self-consumption rates – often 15–30% more than without intelligent control.
